The Mid-Facelift

The Mid-Facelift

The endoscopic mid-facelift (or mid-lift) is one of the newer facelifting procedures in the world of facial plastic surgery and is growing rapidly in popularity. This procedure can be completed by itself, or done along with a traditional facelift.

Many plastic surgeons claim to perform this endoscopic, minimally invasive procedure but only a very select few have the knowledge and skills to do so properly. Dr. Jean-Paul Azzi’s advanced techniques have been published in American and European facial plastic surgery journals.

The mid-facelift came about because a common complaint that facelift patients had after fully healing, regardless of how beautiful the facelift appeared, was that there was an imbalance created in the upper face and lower face.

This procedure is referred to as the “mid-lift” because in traditional facelifts, this mid-portion area of the face is normally unaffected. A classic facelift involves incisions around the ear and back into the hair, while having little to no impact on the midface around the nose. Mid-lifts are quickly becoming known for giving the face a more natural appearance. To find out if you’re a candidate for a mid-facelift, click here.

Since the mid-facelift is a newer procedure, it is extremely important to find a board-certified facial plastic surgeon who has extensive facelifting experience. Over the last 15 years, the facelift has changed dramatically. Endoscopic mid-facelifts are performed by creating tiny access points in the hair. An endoscope is inserted into the incisions to help guide the surgeon as he or she lifts the cheeks and brow and secures them in a more youthful, position. The relocation of this tissue to its higher/natural position gives definition to the cheeks and neckline. It is an outpatient procedure, and the surgery itself generally lasts an hour or two.

When it comes to any possible side effects or risks, there aren’t any that are unique to this particular procedure. Typically, people are in and out of surgery and back to work within a week or two.
