Are You a Facelift Candidate?

Women and men undergo facial plastic surgery for a variety of reasons. For some, it’s all about self confidence -- whether it’s the desire to turn back the hands of time, or fix a facial feature that has been bothering them. For others, it’s for health reasons.

Facelifts are the #1 surgical procedure performed at The Palm Beach Center for Facial Plastic & Laser Surgery located in Jupiter, Florida and Palm City, Florida. Dr. Jean-Paul Azzi performs facelifts right in the office, with no anesthesia. Patients remain awake during this painless procedure and there is minimal downtime.

Dr. Azzi is an expert at many types of facelifts, ranging from deep-plane and sub-SMAS facelifts to endoscopic mid-facelifts. He is especially well known for his endoscopic mid-facelift since only a handful of surgeons in the country have the expertise to properly perform this procedure. Each method of facelifting targets a distinct area of the face with varying degrees of intensity. At your facelift consultation, Dr. Azzi will determine which procedure is right for you.

Here are some reasons you may want to consider a facelift:

Deep Wrinkles in the Face and Neck

Over time, wrinkles are caused by excess skin, the weakening of facial muscles, or simply genetics. If you have prominent, deep wrinkles, a facelift is likely your best bet. For finer lines, you may consider non-invasive procedures such as fillers, but they do not usually have the ability to impact deeper lines and wrinkles.

Loss of Skin Elasticity

Just as the facial muscles weaken as we age, so does the elasticity of our skin. The combination of the two leads to facial sagging and wrinkles, causing you to look older. A facelift can create a firmer, more youthful appearance, while maintaining a beautiful, natural look.

Saggy Chin and Neck Skin

Sagging chin and neck skin (unfortunately) comes with age, but it is an easy fix. It’s important that the skin on the neck matches the youthfulness of the face, so Dr. Azzi almost always performs a neck lift in conjunction with a facelift to contour and define the jawline and chin, and smooth the neck skin.

Deep Creases Around the Mouth and Nose

Nasolabial folds (lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth) can start to form as early as in your 20s and 30s. A mid-facelift is often the best option to revitalize the lower face and bring sagging skin back up over the cheekbones where it used to be.

Droopy Jowls

As we age, our jowls (the loose muscles and skin around the cheek area) tend to droop. This is an issue that goes beyond skin elasticity and cannot be treated via non-invasive procedures. A facelift is required to adjust and tighten the deeper muscular structures and tailor the skin to fit the new, rejuvenated face. The result is a firm, contoured appearance.

Tired Appearance:

This is one of the most common reasons people seek facial plastic surgery. Dark circles, droopy eyelids, and puffy under eyes are all common motivators. A blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) can be performed to address these issues, but if the rest of your face is sagging along with your eyes, you may want to discuss your facelift options with Dr. Azzi.

Dr. Azzi is trained in the most cutting edge techniques and is renowned for his natural, beautiful and long lasting results.Because of his advanced skill level, Dr. Azzi’s exceptional facelifting techniques have been published in American and European facial plastic surgery journals.
